Evil Shades eye primer VS. Urban Decay eye primer

I've been looking for a cheaper, indie alternative to the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion for a while now, so when Evil Shades released one I pounced on the "naked" version since I love all of Andrea's eyeshadows and lipsticks so much.

I hate to admit this, but I was dissapointed.

When I first received the primer I was worried there might be disappointment, the jar came in all oily and no matter how much I wiped it, it left a ring of oil wherever I set it down for a while. Then when I opened it up I could see it had not been well blended. I still had my hopes up so I blended it myself and decided to give it a go.

I put Evileyes on my right eye, your left in the following pictures, and UDPP on my left, your right. Evileyes goes on very silky and smooth, I do love the texture. I then put on some shimmery shadows (Shiro Cosmetics Rupee and Deku). Right away I could tell a difference, Evil Shades makes the shadows MUCH more sparkly and shimmery. Here is a picture in the morning immediately after doing all my make-up, you can see the Evileyes side is more vibrant and shimmery.

Picture taken in morning sunlight.

I wore this all day and when it came time to take it off I was disappointed to see the Evil Shades had creased and my shadow had faded a lot compared to UDPP.

Picture taken at night under fluorescent bathroom lighting.

Then I decided to test a bunch of different shadows on my hand and discovered that it is NOT compatible at all with matte shades, I decided to re-test and take pictures, you can see below that the first three matte shades don't work at all they gum up and look gross. On the other hand it does make the shimmery shadows I picked look very vibrant and helps to hold the sparkles.

The shadows I swatched are these: Kryolan pressed matte shadow colour AB42 (turquoise), L'Oreal Hip Duo in Flamboyant (the purple colour), Evil Shades Heartless Queen, Evil Shades Reondite, and Shiro Cosmetics Midna.

And here comes my biggest disappointment of all for me, Pixie Epoxy does not work AT ALL with the Evil Shades primer. PE rolls and gums up, it never becomes tacky and just plain does not work, I've tried applying them both all sorts of ways but nothing worked.

Pros:
- Silky texture.
- Makes shimmery and glittery shadows more vibrant.

Cons:
- Creases and fades faster than with UDPP.
- Does not work with matte eyeshadows.
- Does not work with Pixie Epoxy.

Would I buy again: No
I have very oily lids so this may work for other people, but I could not make it work with matte shadows or PE.

I almost did not write this review because I love Andrea, she has fantastic eyeshadows and even greater lipsticks. In the end though I had to write this, I couldn't pretend it just didn't happen. I knew when I started blogging that I might have to write posts like this.

I'm still hoping I got a bad batch but I would not buy the primer again, I will however remain a loyal customer for her eyeshadows, blushes, and lipsticks.

EOTD Teal + waxed eyebrows

Last Friday's EOTD. I really like these colours, I think they suit me very well well :3

This also shows my finally waxed eyebrows! This was the first time I ever did anything to my eyebrows. As you can see it's made me break out a little bit but OHWTO's Black Magic soap is really helping to calm that down (I will review the store and that soap soon!). I bought some Revlon tweezers and I hope to continue my eyebrow upkeep by just tweezing instead of going back to get waxed all the time.

What do you all do for your eyebrow upkeep routine?

What I used:
(All eyeshadows used are by Evil Shades)
UDPP all over lid and above crease
Pixie Epoxy all over lid and about crease
Elf Star in inner corner
Reodite on lid and slightly blended over crease
Wanderflower in outer V and slightly above crease
UD's 24/7 liner in Zero
Nyx Dolleye mascara

I should have lined this look, I think it would have looked better.

2nd Evil Shades order + Swatches

Yay I always love receiving Evil Shades orders! The first pictures shows my 2 orders pictured together but I will be making 2 posts for them, I should post the next one tomorrow. I placed the first order and a week after my boyfriend gifted me the second order :)

By the time I got the second order I had already put my samples into little jars that's why you see those jars in the pictures.

I won't re-swatch the lipsticks as you can see them all in this post. I did however re-swatch the full size shadows I got as I'm unhappy with my previous swatches of the sample sizes.

Orders 2 & 3 together, the lipsticks I bought are Stiletto, Devilista, Primrose Path, and Bane.

The sample sizes in jars.

I've been playing around with modifying my pictures and this one is the first, let me know what you guys think and how I can improve. The next pictures are all the same order and taken without flash in sunlight.

The next 2 pictures are taken with flash.

I took a little break between batches of swatches to play with my kitty Moogie. She loves chasing shadows and was having a blast going after the shadow my brush was making.

Pixie Epoxy!

I've been wanting to do a review of this amazing product, but after browsing through many blogs and reviews I thought I would just do a round-up of reviews/videos/info etc that I found most useful myself.

(Picture from Fyrinnae's website)

Pixie Epoxy is a product you put on over an eyeshadow primer to make your eyeshadows look foiled without having to mess around with mixing shadows with water or other mixing mediums.

I finally ordered a full size bottle of PE today, I have been using a sample size (which are quite generous) and loving it so I really needed a full size, plus I've been using it to swatch so it won't last forever :P

You can purchase the product HERE. I HIGHLY recommend you check out their shadows too if you haven't yet!

Fyrinnae themselves have a few tips HERE.

Grey from Gothique has a great review on her blog, HERE.

Phyrra also has a really good review on her blog HERE.

Kelleyrie has a great video on how to use PE HERE.

Dolce Aria has a fantastic tutorial on how to use and blend with PE HERE.

Eyebrow waxing/tweezing

So I took the plunge today and booked an appointment at my local Yves Rocher to get my eyebrows waxed/tweezed next Thursday. The website says it is done with tweezers but it is under their waxing procedures, since I have never had it done I'm not sure if I will be waxed first then shaped with tweezers or just tweezered.

So I'm scared! I like how my eyebrows look from far but up close they are so scraggly and aren't doing much for my eotd's on this blog! I hope I don't end up looking weird and/or worse than before!

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good pair of tweezers for when I want to pluck some stray hairs in between waxings? Either drugstore or Canadian Sephora brands.

Sunshine award :)

I can't believe I got an award! Now I get to pass it on :)

1. Say who gave you the award
2. List ten things you like
3. Pass the award on to ten other bloggers

1- Robyn from Stay Beautiful :D

2- Indie make-up companies (Duh :P), Cats, Books, Crochet, Cool weather, hand-made bath stuffs, baking, Crafting, Sewing, Gardening.

3- I'm new to the blogging world so I don't actually know enough blogs yet to be able to give 10 awards away, but I will update this page as I find new ones! I do follow a few bigger blogs but these have all already gotten this award many times :) I'm hoping to pass these on to smaller blogs.

- Cooking Chinchillas Really like this blog! Love the tips of the days and the 10 things of today, really inspirational for my own blog :)

Sugarpill Goldilux swatches

I'm SO happy I bought this shadow! It's pretty expensive compared to other Indie companies (with shipping to Canada it came up to 20$) but I've seen so many swatches and no other shadow seemed to even come close to Goldilux's awesomeness, I just had to have it! You also get A LOT of product in your jar.

I don't know that I would buy any of the other loose shadows as they seem to me to be pretty standard shades that I can get pretty close dupes of for cheaper from other indie companies. I do, however, one day plan on get myself the Burning Heart and Sweetheart palettes :P

I know this has been swatched by everyone already but I'm so proud of owning this shadow I just had to share anyways :D
